Osteotomy

Osteotomy is an operation to realign joints. Poorly aligned bones place excessive stress and strain through areas of a joint. This can predispose to and accelerate arthritis. The purpose of osteotomy is to realign the joint, so that a more even distribution of weight can be carried through the joint. This often helps in relieving pain. Osteotomy is a treatment for very early arthritic change in a joint.
